Just as we, the muggles (unfortunately, yes) are stuck due to lockdown. Why not take a jump into our favourite fantasy world and re-live it all over again. Also, do not expect me to add Harry Potter and Hermoine Granger into the list as these two are common for all of us. Also, there is only space for TOP TEN which is way too short of a place for such characters.
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
10. Professor Minerva McGonagall
Why Is It When Something Happens, It Is Always You Three?
As soon as we take the first step into the magical world, Professor Minerva McGonagall gives us a fine taste of magic by her transformation. We might not share a heart to heart moment with her or there might not be any striking moment to grow too fond her. But all in all Professor Minerva McGonagall will be cherished forever for how she had been fair to all and for being the motherly figure to Harry. This was an easy pick as there is absolutely nothing about her to hate.
9. Luna Lovegood
My mum always said things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end. If not always in the way we expect.
As when the hell broke loose in the magical world, J.K Rowling strategically created few characters to lighten our mood. And with an aura like Luna Lovegood, it is safe to say that she didn’t fail us. Different and strange are two adjectives best to describe her and then there were those moments when she taught us way beyond it like how one should never change just to fit in with the rest. You just have to like yourself and then- booom- YOU ARE PERFECT.
8. Rubeus Hagrid
What’s comin’ will come and we’ll meet it when it does.”
This half-giant and half-human is pretty much the bestfriend of our favourite trio. Also, I am just glad J.K Rowling decided for him to carry supposedly dead Harry in the last part hence, keeping the character alive. Hagrid is one of those characters who has kept us entertained till the very end, enlightening us with his love for the magical creatures and we can never have enough of that.
7. Ron Weasley
“Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be ‘follow the butterflies’?”
You don’t have to be a Weasley twin to be funny, you can just be Ron Weasley as I think it is in the blood. Ron has made us laugh in the most serious situations without even trying. From facing his worst fear of spiders in the forbidden forest to trying to co-operate with his broken wand. There were times when we were close to not liking Ron anymore but somewhere down we all have Ron in us- insecure, making poor choices, fearing of never being good enough. All we must do is redeem ourself and find our way back to the people we care about just like Ron did because he was never just a sidekick.
6. Neville Longbottom
I’m quite proud to be their son.
The boy who had target painted on his back, the one to get bullied all the time. Neville Longbottom is one of the finest creation of the author and no, it is not because of his parents tragic story. One thing that Neville never let us do is to sympathize him for what he had lost rather he became the other hero who completely won us over.
5. Professor Albus Dumbledore
It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
From here onwards there is no easy choice to make as the list is reaching to the top. Professor Albus Dumbledore- as perfect as the man was, he had made terrible mistakes and learnt from the hard way around just like any of us. He is the reason why we all felt the safest in Hogwarts. Professor Albus Dumbledore is one such character whom we wanted to know more about but J.K Rowling has very smartly left his life to our imagination.
4. Dobby the free elf
Dobby is used to death threats, sir. Dobby gets them five times a day at home.
Freedom and friendship is valued by those who doesn’t have any. Dobby taught us that no matter how or where you start, you can always end like a hero and beautifully so. Our heart ached when he died but he got the most perfect ending, isn’t it? As a free elf and in the arms of his friend Harry Potter.
3. Fred Weasley
Ask us no questions and we’ll tell you no lies
This prankster and inventor did not care to graduate and pretty much didn’t care about anything. He was born to make everyone around him laugh, he was born to be the light in the darkest time. Death was pretty unfair to him. One moment we had him and the next moment we didn’t.
2. Sirius Black
You don’t understand — there are things worth dying for
This name is going to be a shocker for most of you that I know but heart loves what it loves. Neither was life nor was death fair to him and tragic makes the most flawless character. Sirius was the last hope Harry had of having a family. My bet is you can’t survive Azkaban unless you haven’t done the crime you were punished for, maybe. We all wish to have a friend like you Sirius, bravo!
1. Severus Snape
Now who can beat Snape in terms of tragedy. Such is the character development of this man that from hating him with all our might to rooting for him. Through all the resentments and hate he had towards James Potter and life itself, he had only one thing to overcome it all, love. One so pure that it’s almost dreamlike, changing his course of life.
